At the present "San Paolo" stud farm is certainly the most important and famous stud farm in Italy because of its tradition and solidity.

It is ran by Francesco Basile who, like his ancestors, is very keen on horse-breeding and, from 2000 to 2005 he is the President of the National Race Breeders Association.

The stud farm is a kind of horse breeding in a natural state and it has more than 100 selected animals. Thanks to an accurate selection the stud farm is carrying out to a further morphologic improvement of the animals getting excellent results from the technical and commercial point of view.This is even possible looking after the selection which exalts the temper and the excellent willingness to learn of this marvellous horses.
The market is stabilized in the West of Europe and recently we have had a growing interest by the breeders of the North of America and Australia.

In the last years the stud farm has reached important technical results thanks to the production of the most important stallions like: Max, Nume, otello, Quiscardo, salomone e Stauss.

Besides the marketing of the breed animals, it is important the training to the use of saddle and attacks that the stud farm conducts in order to face the growing demand for trained Murgese.

Today the Murgese is a famous horse, thanks to its docility and obedience it is exceptional for cross-country riding. The breeders are oriented the selection of the horses to these disciplines at which the Murgese excels particularly.
However we can say that the Murgese have demonstrated an excellent potential which amazes the breeders: in fact the Murgese horses are been used with great success in dressage, physical therapy and the high school.
